I'm a retired Baltimore County Physical Education Teacher, but now just work part time at Holabird Sports in the showroom. I specialize in the proper selection and fitting of athletic shoes, especially for runners.
I ran Cross-Country, Indoor Track and Outdoor Track for Kenwood High School. During my senior year, our team won the State Cross-Country Title and I finished 5th in the State Meet. In Indoor Track we won the State Championships and I was the Maryland State 2-mile champion. Needless to say - running has been with me for quite a long time now!
Because of my outstanding Cross-Country and Track performances, I was awarded a Track Scholarship to the University of Maryland. I eventually ebcame on of their top Cross-Country runners and helped Maryland win 3 straight ACC Cross-Country Championships. My 2-mile, 3-mile and 6-mile times made the "Maryland All-Time Top Ten List".
After college, I ran for the Baltimore Olympic Club. Over the past 4 decades, I've won numerous recognitions including the "Long Distance Runner of the Year" from the South Atlantic Association Amateur Athletic Union, Second Place in the 1978 Maryland Marathon, and was named the Baltimore Road Runners Club "Grand Master of the Year" in 1999. I'm proud of my accomplishments and where they have gotten me today!
My favorite moments at Holabird are when I'm helping high school freshmen who are new to Cross-Country and Track running. I enjoy not only helping students learn how to select a training shoe or racing spike, but also teaching them how the shoes fit. I guess you could say I see a little bit of me in them.
