Holabird Sports Family Member Since 1988.
I’ve been a Racquet Technician with Holabird since 1988. I learned to string at a small tennis club in Maryland where, as a fitness instructor, the head Tennis Teaching Pro needed some extra help and trained me in the art of “racquet stringing.” As a player and sort of a technical geek, I was excited to be able to string my own frames. And being a college kid, I enjoyed the money I saved.
In 1994, I was recognized by the United States Racquet Stringers Association as a “Master Racquet Technician,” which is the highest level of achievement the U.S.R.S.A offers. I’m also a proud member of the prestigious “Wilson Stringing Team” which comprises the exclusive on-site stringers at the U.S. Open, Australian Open, and Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.
After nearly 25 years of racquet service, I can estimate to have finished over 130,000 frames and I’m not slowing down yet. I’m recognized as one of the fastest racquet stringers in the world! I’ve competed in many Speed Stringing Contests – some of by best accomplishments are when I finished 2nd in Las Vegas in 2007, and won the Prince event in Orlando in 2010. My personal best time to string a racquet is 7 minutes flat!
When I’m not standing over a stringing machine, I enjoy putting miles on my road bike, playing tennis and golf, drinking Guinness, and enjoying cigars on the beach.
