The Brooks Ghost series has long been a favorite among neutral runners. Let’s take a look at what’s new in the Ghost 6.
Brooks Ghost 6 Update
The biggest change is Brooks removal of the midfoot shank (for those of you not well-versed in running shoe lingo, that’s the plastic piece in the arch). Instead of plastic, they filled it in with rubber and foam to give you total contact with the ground, from heel to toe. The result is a smoother, more responsive ride with the same great level of cushion and support.
Other changes include an extension of the caterpillar crash pad – it now wraps around the heel. The crash pad is made with indentations which expand as the shoe hits the ground, and in turn, increases shock absorption. They simplified the upper by using thin, welded plastic overlays, this doesn’t really change the feel. The upper still feels snug and secure.
Brooks Ghost 6 Overall
If I had to describe the Ghost 6 in one word, it would be soft. Brooks’ Ghost is more pillowy soft Caspar and less haunting specter. It’s soft, smooth, and bouncy.
I love when running shoe companies don’t go overboard on the updates. Brooks left everything that long-time aficionados loved about the previous versions. They still have Brooks DNA, the sole is still durable and they still look fantastic!
In summary, the Brooks Ghost 6 has a great mix of cushioning, responsiveness, smoothness without losing support or being too heavy. The Brooks Ghost 6 is a top choice for runners who want a neutral, cushioned shoe.
