Gamin's GPS enabled 610 is a touchscreen watch that accurately records time, pace, distance and more with the touch, tap or swipe of your finger. The 610's sleek touchscreen is as rugged as it is functional, proving it's more than just a pretty face. Tap or swipe to advance pages; swipe and scroll to adjust settings. The touchscreen also stands up to rain, sweat and the occasional drink station dousing, yet is sensitive enough to operate with running gloves.

The 610 provides accurate distance, pace, GPS position, and more. It can even guide you back to the starting point of your run, giving you the freedom to explore new routes and always find your way back.

Training tools like the new Virtual Racer™ can turn any workout into a virtual matchup. This feature lets you race your previous bests or challenge any activities uploaded to our Garmin Connect™ site. Virtual Racer accounts for varying speeds and real-time conditions, so it's truly you vs. your opponent. Or, use the Virtual Partner® function and see how you measure up to a static pace you set. Forerunner 610 also offers vibration alerts, which you can customize for time, distance, calories, or cadence. So, when you reach your targets, you'll feel a gentle vibration.

The 610 helps you train smarter, not harder. It's Garmin's first sport watch with the Training Effect capability from Firstbeat. Training Effect measures the impact of an activity on your aerobic fitness, which essentially helps you train more efficiently. Your Training Effect is calculated based on your user profile, your heart rate and the difficulty of the activity.

When your workout's done, Forerunner 610 keeps working. It wirelessly uploads your run data to our Garmin Connect™ site when in range of your computer so you can go back and review your run on your own time. It works via ANT+™ wireless technology and the USB stick that comes with your watch. No wires, no manual uploads, no sweat. At Garmin Connect you can see your activity on a map, view lap splits and explore activities from other users. Garmin Connect is Mac® and PC compatible.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 610:

I was a little skeptical purchasing a touch-screen running watch, but I'm glad I did. I've owned many Garmin GPS running watches in the past, including the awesome Forerunner 210. The 610 menu is super easy to navigate with plenty of customization of what you want displayed. You get 4 screen choices with each screen being able to display up to 4 data metrics. I prefer Distance/Time and lap pace for the long runs. Lap count, Current Lap time and Last Lap for my track workouts. You can add distance if you do your intervals on the road. The touchscreen is not affected by clothing or gentle touch of the screen. It takes a firm tap of the screen to activate it. The touchscreen can be navigated wet or with gloves. The important functions like start/stop and manual lap trigger are still operated by buttons. And once you have the screens dialed in to your preferred metrics, there is no need to maneuver through them aimlessly. As a competitive runner, I find the watch to have just about everything I need -- just about. There is still room for improvement. Although impressive and functions well, I don't think the touchscreen adds anything to the watch and in fact it may even take away, but not a deal breaker. My other gripe with it is, just like the Forerunner 210, this one also does not have accumulated split time. Let's say you're running a 10k, but you'd like to see what your time was at the midpoint (5k). The watch does have auto triggers every mile or whatever distance you want, but the history will show you just your time for that split. You'll know what your time was for every mile, but not what your accumulated time at mile 5 was in a half marathon. Big minus in my book. Also, no max speed on the run. Although, you do get it while in bike mode, but only when you go into the history. My last gripe is the interval mode. It's the only feature that Garmin lacks in. In its current form you can not see your best lap and lap time average (excluding the rest periods). Big downfall. All in all, I'd say it's still probably one of the best GPS watches out there. Although somewhat heavy (72g), vs 52g for the Forerunner 210, still looks like a regular watch and along with the Forerunner 210 and 910xt, it is one of the best running watches Garmin has put out so far. Stay away from the 405 and 410 models. And Garmin. Make the new 610 lighter.
