  • Q:

I demo'd this racquet this morning, though I don't know what tension or strings I would want? I like the demo. I am a 3.5 player that has power though I like to sometimes slice and put side spin on the ball. What strings would you suggest?

Choosing a string is really about personal preference, so it's difficult to make a sure-fire recommendation. One player might really like a string because of certain characteristics that another player dislikes. If you are not a frequent string breaker, you might like something a bit softer and more playable like HEAD FXP Power. It is easy on the arm and quite lively, but it is a soft string, so it will fray and break quickly if hit with lots of spin and power. If you do break strings frequently, you might want to try something a bit stiffer and more durable like HEAD Sonic Pro. With regards to tension, I always suggest stringing right in the middle of the manufacturer's recommended tension range the first time you string your new racquet. This will help you get a good feel for your new racquet and will give you some space to tweak your racquet's performance later on.
