YouTek™: YouTek™ combines superior technologies to perfectly match your individual needs. Whether your game is aggressive and adventurous or consistent and smooth, YouTek™ enhances your performance and brings out the best in you.

d3o™: The frame-inlay d3o™ is a smart material. The specially designed molecules in d3o™ react on different impacts within nano seconds. They stay soft during slow hits and lock together on hard strokes. With this behavior, d3o™ is able to sense the needs of your play and adapts to you. It provides maximum power as well as softer touch for a better feel.

Innegra™: Innegra™ is the world's lightest high performance fiber in the industry today. HEAD's advanced carbon composite technology combined with Innegra™ forms an extremely tough fiber. The new high composite structure is integrated into the racquet for shock absorption and improved stability. Vibration at ball impact is reduced by up to 17% for unmatched control and precision and is easier on your arm. HEAD's new hybrid-composite structure considerably extends the performance of your HEAD racquet at the highest level, giving you consistent performance over the entire life of your frame.

I am trying to duplicate my husband's racquet, head speedlite, as he likes a spare for tournaments. Both him and his partner snapped strings last week. No clue about strings and tension strength though, and you have so many choices. He plays in a men's 3.5 league, is about 6 ft, 200 lbs, 50 yr old with a very strong 1st and 2nd serve. I don't want to spend extra on strings though, in case i get it wrong and he has to redo it anyway. I could be wrong, because they are different colours, but it appears that the mains are thicker than the crosses on his existing racquet. I am trying to surprise him so i can't just ask him.

Strings and string tension really come down to personal preference, so it can be tough to make a recommendation without specifics from the player. This racquet does include free stringing and a selection of HEAD strings free of charge, so you shouldn't have to spend any extra for stringing unless you are sure which string he wants specifically. If your husband is breaking strings frequently, HEAD Sonic Pro might be a good choice. If he is not breaking strings as frequently, HEAD FXP is a softer, more forgiving string. Anytime someone is unsure about tension, I recommend stringing right in the middle of the manufacturer's recommended range (57 lbs. for this racquet). Alternatively, if your husband purchased his racquet from us, we may still have a record of the string and tension he selected. We keep records of purchases for 12-18 months. Feel free to contact us at (866) 860-1416 or info@holabirdsports.com and we would be happy to look in our records for you.

I am interested in buying the Head Speed Lite tennis racquet. I consider myself somewhere between advanced beginner and intermediate. I have never had to choose the string type or tension. Could you provide a recommendation for me?

If you are not a string breaker, HEAD FXP 17 is a great string that is both soft and playable. It will be easy on your arm and provide nice feel, good touch, and some power. If you are breaking strings regularly, the HEAD RIP Control is a fairly durable string that isn’t too stiff. As far as tension goes, whenever someone is switching to a new racquet, I always recommend stringing at the mid-tension. This will give you a good feel for the racquet. Also, when you get it restrung, you will have plenty of space to string it looser for more power or tighter for more control, if you feel that you need either.

The HEAD YouTek IG Speed Lite is good choice for a advanced beginner and intermediate level player. A good synthetic gut is a good choice for the strings and mid-range, around 58 pounds is a good starting point.
