Upper: Lightweight breathable air mesh provides flexibility. Lace-up front provides an adjustable fit. External heel counter.

Midsole: Comfort Collar. Super soft and lightweight EVA Strobel Board Lasting. Meta-Rocker geometry encourages a guided foot gait cycle. Deep Foot Frame allows the foot to sink into the shoe, as opposed to sitting on top. Removable OrthoLite® insole.

Runner's World Editor's Choice
Fall Shoe Guide 2014

"'Hoka dialed it in with the Clifton!' gushed Michael Richmond, a 49-year-old wear-tester from East Lansing. 'It offers the cushioned feel of a traditional Hoka with the light weight and fit of a performance trainer.' His sentiment was echoed by almost every wear-tester who tried the Clifton, with some suggesting it as a 'gateway' option into max-cushioned shoes. Our lighter, faster runners found the shoe to be as adept at 10-K race pace as it was during an easy recovery run. The midsole isn't as beefy as earlier Hokas', making it lighter on your foot. The real weight savings comes in the upper, where thin welded-on overlays secure the foot. Even so, wear-testers with narrow feet said the forefoot was too roomy."

Comments about Hoka One One Clifton Men's Blue/Black/Lime:

I'm 205lbs with a strained MCL and these shoes provide the stability and cushion that I need. I went from running ultramarathons to no running while healing and am now back to a 5K in these shoes and they feel great. As a heavy runner, the extra cushion makes all the difference for me. They are unbelievably light for the size of the sole. I am currently running on pavement and the treadmill.

I presently run with New Balance M880v4 Size11, how does the fit of this compare? Is it as wide in the toebox, or do I need to size up by 1/2 size

Depending on your preferred fit, the Hoka One One Clifton running shoes have a wide toe box but not as wide as the New Balance 880V4. If your size 11 is less than half an inch from your toe to the end of the shoe, we would suggest getting a 11.5 for the Clifton, but the only way to really know is to try them both on for the best desired fit.
