For people learning the game, regular balls are too fast for people to learn proper stroking technique. Most of the brands of practice balls I've tried—even those that say they are designed for 78 feet—do not bounce like regular balls; they bounce too low, OK for little kids but not adults. These Penn Control balls bounce like regular balls, but they go through the air more slowly, just what beginners need. Highly recommended.

I bought these for hitting with my 7 year old. Green Dots encourage a full swing and are easier to keep in for longer rallys. This brand fuzzys up a lot but otherwise they're fine; a good value.
