The continuation of the Fila Alfa produced another high-performance shoe with comfort in mind. The Alfa II development team utilized superior components to ensure both step-in comfort and long-lasting performance of this highly revered series. Upper: Constructed for ventilation and strength, the Teijin Cordley upper is synthetic leather composed of ultra fine fibers that allow the foot to breathe in all conditions. Like the dual-performance midsole, Cordley is soft and supple right out of the box for immediate comfort without break-in time. Dri-Lex™ Climate Lining is a functional lining for optimal moisture management and climate control. Dri-Lex™ is a dual layer material that creates a 2-zone push-pull effect to rapidly diffuse perspiration away from the skin. Because Dri-Lex™ is not a treated fabric or fiber, these features are permanent. Alfa II's abrasion-resistant medial toe wrap is coated with Duracera, a liquid ceramic treatment created from ceramic powder and PU resin. The treated material lasts up to 8 times longer than traditional synthetics in high wear areas. This abrasion resistant wrap extends to the midfoot for added durability. A lateral support wrap, on the lateral quarter of the Alfa II, consists of an internal nylon strapping system to ensure the foot stays securely centered on the midsole and prevents sliding without having to over tighten the laces. A midfoot fit strap consists of a flexible and breathable Gore strap connecting the tongue to the stroble board to provide additional midfoot and arch support while holding the tongue in place. Padded air mesh collar and tongue provide increased comfort. The Alfa II's upper was built with a precise pairing of comfort and function for the perfect fit, with climate control and excellent durability. Built around an accommodating, yet performance-oriented last, the Alfa II provides an unmatched fit and feel straight out of the box. Midsole: The Alfa was built on the first dual-material midsole in a tennis shoe, the Alfa II features the same revolutionary midsole with Polyaction in the forefoot and Superaction in the heel. Polyaction forefoot cushioning provides immediate step-in comfort without break-in, allowing the player to enjoy a consistent feel throughout seasons of play. Lightweight Superaction cushioning in the heel is Fila's own blend of high-grade EVA and elastomer compound for shock absorption and cushioning. A TPU Lateral Stability Component extension from the midsole provides increased lateral support and agility without sliding or pinching. A TPU shank connects the forefoot to the heel with added stability to prevent twisting and control torsion. Working in combination with the Lateral Stability Component, the Alfa II provides maximum lateral control on the court. Ortholite® sockliner is an open-cell polyurethane foam that provides excellent levels of breathability and moisture transport in combination with long lasting cushioning. Ortholite® foam offers anti-microbial and odor fighting properties for a healthier shoe environment.
Outsole: The entire outsole is constructed from Fila's Evergrind durable rubber compound which is lighter-weight and lasts 30% longer than standard carbon rubber. The Alfa II carries a 6-month outsole guarantee on the wear of the Evergrind outsole. Using and evolved herringbone pattern, the Alfa II's traction is enhanced with a dimpled pattern for immediate traction. The outsole is responsive, slide resistant and ready for aggressive play.
