I love the shoes, lightweight, sharp looking (black). The 1st pair I wore out the inserts and NB replaced them. The 2nd pair, the inside lining developed a hole in the heel area. NB replaced the shoes. I think they are overpriced ($100 plus), especially if there are issues with the shoes but New Balance is the only company that makes 4E wides sneakers so I don't have a lot of options. The good thing is that New Balance stands behind their products - so that's why i am a repeat customer.

Preferred more rigid sole of 1004 shoe -- it provided more protection from ball of foot pain problem I have. New 1005 design is too soft. It rolls easier and the softness actually increases the amount of foot pain I have.

I have been buying the 1000 series NB tennis shoes for a number of years. I liked their width and the firm support around the ball of the foot. When I first put on the 1005 it felt like I was putting on a Nike of years ago--it was tight around the ball of my foot, and did not feel like it would give me the support that I desire.
I almost returned it within a month--I was out two weeks with asthma, but I kept the shoes, and now they feel just as good as the other "1000's."

This has helped my grandson's feet. he is able to play better and his feet don't hurt ay all.
He has advanced to varsity playing, so this is a great help with the running and stopping quick.

First a warning - this is a wide-built shoe, built on the same last as the 1004. This works great for me, as I normally wear a EE, and the D fits perfectly. Just got the shoes, and had to immediately take them out for a trial. I'm very happy with the comfort, cushioning, and stability. Can't wait for my 1st match in them. I just hope that these are available for a long time to come.
