Q:
What do the numbers "v3" and "SN3" mean?
Does this shoe have an SL1 Last? SL1 is not as wide as SL2, correct?Asked on 4/18/2013 by jimmy john1 answer
A:
In the past, the 890 would have been replaced by the 891, which would have been replaced by the 892, and so on. However, New Balance has slightly modified the way that they label each generation within a shoe line. The v3 (version 3) means that this is the third generation of this shoe (the 890v2 replaced the 890 and the 890v3 replaced the 890v2). The SN is simply New Balance's color code—in this case it stands for "Silver/Navy." The 890v3 is built on New Balance's Natural PL-1 last. The Natural PL-1 last fits fairly standard across the board (heel width, instep height, toe box height, and forefoot width) as does the SL-1 last. The Natural PL-1 last will be a bit more curved than the SL-1 last.Answered on 4/18/2013 by Ryan from Holabird Sports
