Fall 2012
"A Best Buy pick that tops $100? If you're shopping for new shoes, you know they're getting more expensive. But the Ride 5 is indicative of a trend we're seeing: The shoe is $10 more expensive and is a full two ounces lighter than its predecessor. That weight savings is largely a product of using less foam in the midsole and a reduction in the rubber on the outsole, which also makes this update lower to the ground and more flexible. The changes resonated with testers, who rated it the highest of any shoe in this guide for comfort, cushioning, and ride. So, despite the price hike, it's worth the splurge."

Comments about Saucony Ride 5 Men Silver/Gray/Blue:
Purchased these as a replacement for my Ride 4's for marathon training and running a marathon. They are not even close to similar to the Ride 4's. I ran a few weeks thinking they needed to be broken in but my feet were killing me after an 18 mile and 13 mile long runs respectively. I would not buy if training long distances. Good for less than 10 mile runs, races or training as they are lightweight. Don't use for marathoning or marathon training.

Q:
Hi, I am training for a Marathon that is approximately 6 weeks away. I currently run in Saucony Triumph 8 which has a higher heel drop than the new Triumph and Ride models. Would you expect that I would have issues with the difference at this point in my training where I have no opportunity to do a gradual transition? My current shoes are spent.Asked on 9/10/2012 by P from Clarkston, MI1 answer
A:
Normally we recommend that people try to stick with the same shoe as much as possible during their training; however, we certainly can understand your situation. Although there is a slight difference in the heel-toe offset between the Triumph 8 and the Triumph 9, the shoe is mostly the same and you probably shouldn't encounter any issues.Answered on 9/12/2012 by Ryan from Holabird Sports
