Light Stability. A must have for any mild pronator, the Saucony ProGrid Guide 5 provides a lightweight feel, cushioned ride, and more flexibility to push them forward mile after mile.

Upper: HydraMax collar lining fabric provides next-to-skin comfort and maximizes wicking. Mesh upper for increased breathability and ventilation. Padded heel collar and air mesh tongue for a more plush, cushioned fit and feel. Reflective accents for increased visibility in low light conditions.

Midsole: Full length Heel ProGrid™ LITE absorbs impact, dissipates shock and sets the foot up for a smooth transition. Dual density SSL EVA midsole provides increased attenuation, responsive cushioning, stability, durability and rebound properties. HCR+ Strobel board increases cushioning and provides a step-in comfort. SRC Impact Zone cushioning provides shock attenuation and sets up the foot for a smooth transition through the gait cycle. A breathable, moisture wicking, anti-odor and anti-microbial comfortride sockliner provides improved step-in comfort with rebound properties.

8mm heel to toe offset.

Outsole: Blown rubber combined with XT-900™ create exceptional traction and comfort without the sacrifice of durability. IBR+ is Saucony's updated blown rubber compound that is lighter, more responsive and has enhanced cushioning and durability properties. Flex grooves for optimal flexibility in every stride.

Available in width D (Medium).

Runner's World Editor's Choice
March 2012

"Talk about a weight loss program: The Guide 5 shead almost two ounces from its previous version, but didn’t lose a shred of cushioning while keeping all of it’s stability features. Saucony got more with less by lowering the heel to toe drop by 2mm and using a lighter rubber on the shoes outsole. “This was the lightest Saucony I have ever tested, yet it was easily the most comfortable,” says Mariliz Killeen, 45, an Allentown, Pennsylvania war tester who’s run in the past three versions of the Guide for us. “When I hold the Guide 4 and Guide 5 in my hands, the Guide 5 is noticeably lighter.” The one complaint we heard most from a number of testers: shoelaces that are too long. Bottom line, for many runners, the Guide 5 provides nearly as much stability as the Etonic DRP Epic, but in a lighter more flexible shoe."

Cheap construction with flimsy laces

By Bwazcat

from Boulder, CO

About Me Avid Athlete

Pros

  • Breathable
  • Comfortable
  • Fast
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • Poor Cushioning

Best Uses

  • Road Running

Comments about Saucony Guide 5 Men Black/White/Citron:

Light weight, well ventilated design but falls short on quality of materials - especially the foot-bed insert & laces. Adding some sorbothane inserts and a good set of laces will greatly improve.

Cons

  • BLISTERS

Comments about Saucony Guide 5 Men Black/White/Citron:

This shoe does not accept orthotics well. It caused a blister to form. Without orthotics, it is comfortable and functions well.
