Q:
How do you compare the 851 versus the 1005 with regards to support, comfort and wear ? Being quite a bit lighter would seem to give the 851 an advantage. Am currently wearing the 1004.Asked on 4/16/2012 by Anonymous from San Diego, CA1 answer
A:
The 851 is a much lighter, low-to-the-ground shoe than the 1004 or 1005. While being low and light has its advantages, there is a tradeoff. In order to make shoes lighter, often some of the cushioning material or support has to be removed to save weight. How long this shoe lasts will depend upon your style of play and how often you play, but the New Balance 851 does have a 1 Year Outsole Guarantee. To get the best of both worlds, many players will actually keep two pairs of shoes: one lightweight pair (like the 851) for match days, and one more cushioned pair (like the 1005) for practice days.Answered on 4/17/2012 by Ryan from Holabird Sports
