Upper: AIRMesh™ with synthetic overlays for support provides the utmost in breathability and comfort of the upper. Dynamotion Fit™ relieves the stress the foot naturally places on footwear and eliminates distortion in the collar and heel during the gait cycle that results in heel slippage and a poor fit.
Midsole: Gender specific engineering. The Mizuno Wave™ is SmoothRide Engineered, utilizing Composite Parallel wave for superior shock absorption and dispersion with a great transition to boot. This SmoothRide™ Engineering approach is used to minimize the rapid acceleration and deceleration of the foot during transition, creating the smoothest ride possible. AP+ enhances the inherent properties of the AP midsole, offering increased rebound and a "bouncier" feeling, which extends the cushion durability, while maintaining the light weight performance. VS-1 Shock-absorbing cushioning compound is also found in the heel. The Mizuno Intercool Full-length midsole ventilation system reduces heat and humidity build-up inside the shoe. A removable sockliner provides a responsive first feel.
24mm heel height, 12mm forefoot height.
Outsole: X-10™ featured in this shoe is the most durable carbon rubber that allows for longer wear in high impact areas and supplements traction at heel strike. SmoothRide Engineered, a solid rubber forefoot outsole design for durability and flexibility.

Women have a wider pelvis than men causing them to pronate more when their feet land. Additionally, less muscle mass and softer connective tissue in women increases the speed at which the ankle rolls inward. By making their shoes more flexible with more pronounced flex grooves and the outside heel more rounded, Mizuno produced a softer landing, slowing the inward roll of the ankle, producing a more desired result for female runners.

Comments about Mizuno Wave Rider 14 Lady White/Ceramic/Ink:
I've been doing the Couch-to-5K program and suffer from plantar fasciitis. My regular shoes were fine with the insoles I had purchased until I started having shin splints. I searched for shoes that helped with both of my issues and came up with Mizuno. My husband (a more dedicated runner) and a friend both have Mizunos for the specific purpose of running and love them. I no longer need to use additional insoles in my shoes and I completed my Couch-to-5K program 2 weeks earlier than expected!
