        Preferred the previous versions!

        By CrossCountryKid

        from Vancouver, BC

I am a competitive collegiate distance runner and have been running a fleet of NB shoes for the past number of seasons. 890s have been my go to distance trainer since the V2's, and I have always loved their durability and lightweight cushioning. From the start I was not overly pleased with the v4. The weight shaving is fairly minimal and I found the shoe felt more clunky than previous models. Tongue was really thick and the feel was just less responsive. Durability was good overall, began ripping above the balls of the feet, but nothing too major given the mileage put on the shoe. Decent shoe but I would sooner recommend the V3's.

        Too Tight in Toe Box!

        By KermitRaphael

        from New York, NY

I am a size 12 and a half and have a wide foot. So I usually order 13 Wide (2E) from NB. That's what I ordered this time around these sneakers were to tight in the toe box. Don't know if this pair was just poorly made as all the other reviews said these sneakers were awesome. Will have to send back and re order to see.

        Light weight, comfortable, responsive

        By Bob

        from Oceanside, Ca

I am an avid 65 year old 5K runner and try and race once a month. I had been racing in a NB905 stabilty shoe. I wear orthotics and decided to try a neutral shoe. I noticed immediately that the 890V4 offered great cushioning and more response to each step. My training times were considerably faster. Ran a Thankgiving Day 5K turkey Trot and took 1st in age Division. Time was about 40 seconds faster than last years race.

Most Comfortable Shoe I have had

        By bentogo

        from Seattle, WA

Although not a runner, I find that this shoe is excellent for walking. It is comfortable, light, durable which allows me to wear them all day. I have just returned from Europe and I walked with them all over many countries. The 890 V4 is just a great shoe for whatever you want to do!

tight in forefoot for wide feet

        About Me Casual/ Recreational

        Pros

          Cons

          • Narrow / Tight
          • Poor Arch Support
          • Poor Cushioning
          • Uncomfortable

          Best Uses

I have wide feet and high arches. These shoes just don't work for me -- they're way too tight in the forefoot, the arch support is poor, and the cushioning is inadequate.

            • About New Balance
New Balance has grown to be one of the largest manufacturers of running shoes and they've done this without expensive advertising campaigns. New Balance knows that there is no better press than positive word-of-mouth. New Balance began as an arch support company, but in 1960, they designed the first running shoe with a ripple sole and the first running shoe that came in varying widths. It didn't take long before New Balance running shoes were used by college track teams all over the country. Today, New Balance makes their shoes available in more widths than almost any other company and that means that there's a New Balance that can fit nearly any foot. Although they started by making running shoes, New Balance tennis shoes are an industry staple and are loved by recreational and serious players. New Balance also makes fine running and tennis apparel, as well as a variety of socks and other sporting accessories.
