Upper: GORE-TEX® upper construction is waterproof. Leather and mesh upper is both stylish and functional. Rich eyerow hardware adds a great accent to the upper and helps keep your foot locked down in the shoe. Gusseted tongue design keeps trail debris out of the shoe. Padded tongue and heel collar improve comfort.
Midsole: Abzorb®, New Balance's top of the line cushioning foam, features DuPont™ Engage® and Isoprene rubber for the ultimate ride. C-Cap® compression molded EVA improves midsole cushioning and flexibility. ¾ length rock stop plate protects your foot from uneven and harsh trail features like protruding rocks or roots. Removable polyurethane sockliner for added comfort and cushioning.
Outsole: NDurance rubber compound is used for maximum durability in high wear areas. Non-marking outsole with aggressive traction pattern.

Comments about New Balance 956 GORE-TEX Men:
I just had some leg vein surgery and this footwear is so comfortable and supportive that my legs & feet don't feel strained or stressed.
I walk all day for a living and these things are a great luxury when i walk my dogs . When you're on your feet walking for 9 hours everyday it's nice to have some amazing footwear that i feel will prevent any further leg problems.

Q:
I normally take a size 12 in street shoes and a size 13 in running shoes. Should I take a 12 or a 13 in these shoes? Thanks very much.Asked on 4/29/2013 by Kent from Minnesota2 answers
A:
The New Balance 956 GORE-TEX runs true to size. You should order the same size as your regular athletic footwear.Answered on 4/30/2013 by Community Answer from NoneA:
When purchasing athletic shoes, we generally do recommend that you go up a half- to full-size, depending upon the foot and the shoe. We would recommend that you try the size 13, unless you are planning to use these strictly for casual wear, in which case the 12 may be OK.Answered on 4/30/2013 by Ryan from Holabird Sports
Q:
I am looking for a hiking shoe with a deep toe box such as the New Balance SL-2 last, that comes in a 2E width. Does this New Balance 956 hiking shoe fit my needs? Or, would you have another recommendation?
Thank yoou,
Robert E. LeachAsked on 2/19/2013 by Robert from Liverpool, NY2 answers
A:
This boot may be what you're looking for. It has a deep toe box and is available in an EE width.Answered on 2/19/2013 by Community Answer from NoneA:
This shoe is available in EE and 4E width. It is built on an MOL-01 last. Like the SL-2 last, the MOL-01 offers a deep, wide toe box so it certainly should meet your needs.Answered on 2/21/2013 by Ryan from Holabird Sports
