Comments about Sorbothane Ultra Graphite Arch Insole:

I have three pairs of these now: in my hiking boots as well as my everyday walking shoes. They provide gentle cushioning against metatarsal pain, and flexible support elsewhere. They are rather expensive, but they beat the other products I have tried.

I use them mainly because of the graphite strength in the insole. The extra cushioning on the ball of the foot is great too.

Comments about Sorbothane Ultra Graphite Arch Insole:

I was born with flat feet causing painful heels. Over the years I've tried many different things as well as podiatrist prescribed and customized insoles ($400). I discovered sorbathane several years ago and have been using them ever since. I normally purchase one pair a year and use them with New Balance MW577 shoes for a perfect combination. I'm on my feet all day at work. They offer the support for my arch and relief for my heels.

Comments about Sorbothane Ultra Graphite Arch Insole:

I think these offer some of the best cushioning and support of any insole. There are two problems though. The sizing is very important to get right, otherwise the forefoot padding will be off. This is tricky, since I'm a 10.5 but wear an 11 shoe for tennis. I ordered the 11+ and it was a bit too big. They only sell these in a range of sizes.

The second problem is the bottom of the heal cup is too large. it doesn't fit in my shoe. It looks as if it's made more for work boots than tennis shoes. I stuffed it in anyway and it worked fine, although it was folded upon it self on the sides. I later cute away some of the excess padding and it's now close to perfect.

Using these, I find I can play tennis longer before my feet hurt (3.5+ hours). An oncoming bout of plantar fascitis quickly went away after using these. I highly recommend them, but order the proper size and you may still need scissors.

I wear a size 7.5 in womens. Can these be cut to fit into my shoe if they are too big? And if so, how well do the edges hold up after cutting?

                  A:

You will need a Size B Women's if you are between 7.5-8.5. The Arch insoles are designed to be cut for a more custom fit. The edges will not split or peel after being trimmed to the correct size.

HI, I just ordered a pair of these in size F. My shoes are extra wide though, actually they are size 11 1/2 in a 4E width. Will these inserts be wide enough to give me good coverage in the toe box area? Thanks.

                  A:

It should fit the toe box area well, but it's tough to say for sure without trying them in the shoe. The Sorbothane Ultra Graphite Arch insole is a bit less rigid than some other inserts, which should give you some flexibility in terms of fit. If worst comes to worst, bumping up to the next size larger should provide the extra coverage you need and you can still trim the insoles to fit lengthwise.

              • Q:

                Hi,
I have benefited from using standard Sorbothane inserts many years, suggested by a doctor who was a hiker. Sorbothane inserts were sold in my local stores when I first wore them. I think I recall a retailer saying awhile ago that they didn't make a ton of money selling them because they last so long. I've been without them for a time and it is great to be able to order these online. I am interested in trying the graphite arch insoles at present.

Having no arches, some support is welcome, yet I prefer the arch area not be too rigid. I have worn some fairly rigid arch support insoles, but a podiatrist recently thought less rigid for me might be better. I am hoping your inserts are more comfortable. Please give some ideas on the height and flexibility in the arch area of this Ultra Graphite Arch Insole. Thanks.

                  A:

The Sorbothane Ultra Graphite Insole does have a very rigid arch. If your podiatrist suggested a less rigid arch support, then the Ultra Graphite might not be the best solution for you. It's tough to make any sort of recommendation without seeing your feet in person. Since you are working with a podiatrist, the best course of action might be to consult further with your podiatrist to find out exactly what type/brand of insole he or she would recommend for your foot.

This is the same insole that you are trying to replace. The letter at the end of the style number simply denotes the size of the insole.

Yes. Sorbothane changed the name, but the product is the same. We checked our inventory and the items we have in stock all say "Ultra Graphite Arch" on the packaging. Our website is being updated to reflect his new information.
