Midsole:Forefoot and rearfoot GEL cushioning systems are strategically placed to absorb shock during the impact phase. SpEVA® midsole material improves bounce back characteristics and decreases midsole breakdown. Trusstic System™, a molded component, reduces the weight of the sole unit while retaining the structural integrity of the shoe. It also links the rearfoot and forefoot and shores the midfoot. The DuoMax® Support System is an proprietary ASICS® system consisting of two or more different density midsole materials, designed to help correct the degree and velocity of promation. Removable EVA insole.

Outsole: AHAR® Heel Plug, an acronym for ASICS® High Abrasion Resistant rubber, placed in critical areas of the outsole for increased durability. Added DuraSponge®, a blown AHAR® rubber compound, provides enhanced cushioning and durability in the forefoot.

This is another in the long line of 1100 series shoes from asics with minimal changes. I have worn this series since the 1120's. This shoe is exactly what I expected and I can usually wear them out-of-the-box with little if any break-in period. The sizing has remained consistent over the years and the main difference seems to be colors. I hope they never discontinue this line.
