Q:
what last is the 1290 built on? Also are there any specs to judge what weight runner is best served by this shoe? I have had a pair of 1290 for a week and they seem like the stiffest running shoes I've ever used. I am 5-10 and 155 lbs...maybe too light for these stiff shoes?Asked on 11/30/2012 by rick from Phoenix, AZ2 answers
A:
The 1290 is built on a Natural PL-1 last. The PL-1 last is listed as a performance last. New Balance designates the 1290 as a speed shoe and it has a blown rubber forefoot so it should be fairly flexible. That being said, the stiffness and feel of a shoe is somewhat subjective. You may need to try a different shoe or even a different brand altogether.Answered on 12/3/2012 by Ryan from Holabird SportsA:
There are no details regarding height and weight specifications that are ideal for these shoes. The midfoot uses ABZORB® shock absorption, and the foam is REVlite, which is 30% lighter than comparable foams, which could be why you are experiencing the stiffness.Answered on 12/3/2012 by Community Answer from None
