Upper: Lightweight and supportive pigskin and synthetic mesh upper provides comfort and durability with optimal breathability.

Midsole: Encap® is a core of soft cushioning EVA in the midsole with a tough polyurethane rim for more support and durability. ABZORB®, New Balance's top of the line foam, is a superior blend of cushioning and compression set features with Dupont™ Engage® and Isoprene rubber for the ultimate ride. ABZORB® SBS provides maximum heel and forefoot shock absorption. ABZORB® DTS (Dynamic Transition System) combines ABZORB® foam and ABZORB® SBS to provide optimal cushioning and a smooth transition on heel strike. ACTEVA® midsole foam with Dupont™ Engage® provides exceptional durability. Single density polyurethane rim. Removable, perforated and cushioned insole.

Outsole: Blown rubber forefoot provides a soft cushioned ride. NDurance outsole features a rubber compound designed for maximum durability that is used in high-wear areas.

I am a firm believer in New Balance's 99x series. This was just another pair in a long line on perferct running shoes for me. I do wish they hadn't taken the flag off the back the way it was on the 993, but it still says and is Made in the USA.
