Midsole: Forefoot and rearfoot GEL cushioning systems are strategically placed to absorb shock during the impact phase. SpEVA® midsole material improves bounce back characteristics and decreases midsole breakdown. Trusstic System™, a molded component, reduces the weight of the sole unit while retaining the structural integrity of the shoe. It links the rearfoot and forefoot and shores the midfoot. Removable EVA insole.

Outsole: AHAR® Heel Plug, an acronym for ASICS® High Abrasion Resistant rubber, placed in critical areas of the outsole for increased durability. 10 removable metal spike pins on the outsole make sure you have traction no matter the weather conditions.

I bought this shoe to help keep my feet dry and warm when running on trails IN the snow. The cleats are a big help when i hit trail intersections that might be packed down to ice.
I usually wear a 9.5 in Asics. I bought this one as a 10 and that fits well.
My feet stay dry and warmer.

for all those willing to run in ANYTHING, this will likely be the missing shoe in your closet. I've been running on snowed, slushed and mudded roads this winter. having 10 spikes will be nice for the black ice on night runs.

It's a coincidence that I'm drafting a letter to Asics. I've worn these shoes as much as possible hoping the problem to abate.Unfortunately I experience chafing that stems from a seam stitch in the shoe. It's my first pair of Asics. In the time I have worn the shoes, traction was good on packed snow and marginal on ice (treacherous in the grocery store). The experience will be valuable when I shop for shoes.

Bought these at beginning of last winter. By January, my socks were getting wet. Nice shoe but it definitely does not remain waterproof for long. Buyer beware.
