March 2012
"Talk about a weight loss program: The Guide 5 shead almost two ounces from its previous version, but didn’t lose a shred of cushioning while keeping all of it’s stability features. Saucony got more with less by lowering the heel to toe drop by 2mm and using a lighter rubber on the shoes outsole. “This was the lightest Saucony I have ever tested, yet it was easily the most comfortable,” says Mariliz Killeen, 45, an Allentown, Pennsylvania war tester who’s run in the past three versions of the Guide for us. “When I hold the Guide 4 and Guide 5 in my hands, the Guide 5 is noticeably lighter.” The one complaint we heard most from a number of testers: shoelaces that are too long. Bottom line, for many runners, the Guide 5 provides nearly as much stability as the Etonic DRP Epic, but in a lighter more flexible shoe."

Comments about Saucony Guide 5 Lady White/Purple/Citron:
I was trying this shoe as an alternate, and it is just is a little too much shoe for me. They are quite comfortable for walking (which I have now repurposed them for) but not for running, for me. However, if you like the extra "supervision" and a bit of extra beef, they would likely be fine.

Comments about Saucony Guide 5 Lady White/Purple/Citron:
Love Saucony and have used their running shoes for years. My only complaint is the seam that runs across the small toe area. It can be irritating after an hour or so of walk/jogging.

Comments about Saucony Guide 5 Lady White/Purple/Citron:
This is a great shoe for a moderate pronator. The only issues I have so far are that because I have low arches, they are a bit bothersome in the arch after awhile. Also, the roomy toe box is fantastic, but it causes the heel cup to be wide as well. If the heel cup was narrower, this shoe would stay much more stable.
