    Comments about New Balance 847 Men's White/Navy:

Like my title says, I have a very W-I-D-E foot and NewBalance is one of the very, very few footwear manufacturers that provide sides in a 4E width. Yes, that is quadruple-E. While my wide-footed compadres may find it hard to find the wide sizes in mall stores, online is definitely the way to go. When you slip your foot into a sneaker of the proper width, you will never ever wear painful footwear again. Out of 5 stars, I give these NewBalance sneakers a solid 12 stars!!!! Yes, they are that wonderfully comfortable!!

I'm not writing about the shoe's they didn't fit. They were also a closeout shoe and there was no replacement. This is about the excellent customer service I recieved when I returned them. It will have me coming back. Hassle free.

        Comments about New Balance 847 Men's White/Navy:

In the past I've boughtb bought cross trainers (857), but was disappointed with how fast a crack developed in the sidewall. So this is my first experience with this style. I intend to use these exclusively while on the treadmill and elyptical, and reserve my cross trainers for everyday use. The verdict is still out for now, but I'm hopeful that these will wear better.

I am trying to find a replacement for New Balance men's MW 846, White/Blue. The 846 fit me perfectly, which few shoes do because I am flat footed with a wide, low, instep. I use a custom orthodic which provides a neutral wear pattern. (the outer heel corners do wear a lot, but probably due to heel strike). It looks like the MW847 is slightly shorter and wider in the forefoot, with a narrower instep, and may not fit my orthodics. The 1765 looks like a closer fit, but seems have a mostly mesh upper. What can you recommend? I have also the MW928, but it has a cavernously high toe box.

              A:

While there may be some very minor changes to the fit, most changes are cosmetic. It does look very different, but new balance has maintained their style of fit, even with the overhaul in the design of their shoes. The insoles are removable to fit your orthotics. It's always safe to stick to a series that has worked for you, as opposed to switching up models.

Is this the best walking shoe for overpronation? My shoes wear out at the outside rear of the heels and the inside front. I do not run and only use them for walking. Thanks

              A:

This is a good shoe for moderate overpronators. It is also relatively lightweight and breathable thanks to the mesh upper. Depending upon how severely you overpronate, you might also wish to consider the New Balance 928 (http://www.holabirdsports.com/men-s-shoes/walking-shoes/new-balance-928-wt-men.html), as it also has excellent support features.

            • A:

This shoe can help but is not the best shoe for overpronation. There are shoes designed specifically for the issue.

          • About New Balance
New Balance has grown to be one of the largest manufacturers of running shoes and they've done this without expensive advertising campaigns. New Balance knows that there is no better press than positive word-of-mouth. New Balance began as an arch support company, but in 1960, they designed the first running shoe with a ripple sole and the first running shoe that came in varying widths. It didn't take long before New Balance running shoes were used by college track teams all over the country. Today, New Balance makes their shoes available in more widths than almost any other company and that means that there's a New Balance that can fit nearly any foot. Although they started by making running shoes, New Balance tennis shoes are an industry staple and are loved by recreational and serious players. New Balance also makes fine running and tennis apparel, as well as a variety of socks and other sporting accessories.
