Motion Control. A highly stable trainer for runners who require maximum motion control, support and cushioning.

The New Balance 587 is one of the few running shoes that has a TPU post on both the medial and lateral side to provide both pronation and supination control. The straight cut of the last provides a stable, wide base that makes it perfect for heavier framed runners who overpronate or supinate pretty severely. The 587 is available in multiple widths so you can get a comfortable fit no matter what shape your foot is.

Proudly made in the USA.

Upper: Synthetic/mesh upper provides lightweight comfort and support.

Midsole: TPU medial & lateral post provides pronation and supination control. Abzorb in the heel and forefoot provides maximum shock absorption. Graphite Roll Bar aids a smooth gait cycle while maximizing rearfoot stability.

Outsole: Solid rubber outsole provides long-wearing durability.

Available in widths D (Medium), EE (Wide), or 4E (Extra Wide).

Comments about New Balance 587 Men's Navy:

I have been wearing this model ( and the previous versions) for almost 35 !!! years. My orthotics fit perfectly, and I feel great walking, etc. Other than an occasional wedding or other event, these are what I wear. Period.

Comments about New Balance 587 Men's Navy:

The only drawback is you can't get them soaking wet or they smell real bad. New Balance did replace a pair though. I've worn these shoes for years and for a big guy you cannot beat them.

Comments about New Balance 587 Men's Navy:

It was delivered the day after ordering, that's a positive.
      Very little arch support.
      Clunky and stiff.
Not a good walking shoe, and could not imagine
      running in it.
First pair of shoes from New Balance that I have
      disliked.

Comments about New Balance 587 Men's Navy:

I have been purchasing the NB 580 line for decades! This is my 6th pair of 587's and as I get older (I am in my mid-60s), I am walking more each day because walking benefits me more than does running. I keep TWO pair of 587's with me at all times, rotating them between long daily walks. These are truly outstanding shoes which I have purchased ONLY from Holabird Sports. My 587's are truly supportive, wear very well, are comfortable, and look great with my jeans AND khaki trousers.
I WILL buy 587s again! Please keep them in stock!

            A:

Currently there are no plans to update the 587. If you are looking for other models with posting on both the medial and lateral sides, you should take a look at the New Balance 1540: http://www.holabirdsports.com/new-balance-1540-mc-men.html

        • About New Balance
New Balance has grown to be one of the largest manufacturers of running shoes and they've done this without expensive advertising campaigns. New Balance knows that there is no better press than positive word-of-mouth. New Balance began as an arch support company, but in 1960, they designed the first running shoe with a ripple sole and the first running shoe that came in varying widths. It didn't take long before New Balance running shoes were used by college track teams all over the country. Today, New Balance makes their shoes available in more widths than almost any other company and that means that there's a New Balance that can fit nearly any foot. Although they started by making running shoes, New Balance tennis shoes are an industry staple and are loved by recreational and serious players. New Balance also makes fine running and tennis apparel, as well as a variety of socks and other sporting accessories.
