With the BIOM project, ECCO has done something remarkable; they have preserved the natural biomechanics of your foot and ankle. By emulating the biomechanics of barefoot runners, ECCO hopes to reduce the chance of injury. ECCO worked with one of the world's top experts in running biomechanics and with a professional triathlete. They scanned foot profiles of over 2,500 runners. They use an advanced method--the direct-injection process of polyurethane--to bond the upper to the midsole, which also improves the shoe's durability.
