Comments about New Balance VIA Slim Pedometer:

This product is nice and small, you don't even know you are wearing it. However, use of the buttons to change functions and reset are very hard to push and to make it work. I don't use it because you can not reset it or change functions

This unit will not function for cycling applications.

        • A:

A pedometer measures steps taken so won't work with bicycling as steps are not taken. A speed and distance monitor, or speedometer would work with cycling.

How do I set my stride length adjustment and how do I figure what my stride length adj. is?

          A:

Once the unit has been activated, you can begin entering personal data. You will have to enter several other pieces of information before entering your stride length. First you will need to select a unit of distance by pressing the Mode button until you are in Step Mode. Then press and hold the Adjust button. You can select a unit of distance (miles or kilometers) by pressing the Reset button to toggle between them. Next, press the Mode button to advance to weight adjustment. You can enter your weight by pressing the Reset button. Once you are done setting your weight, press the Mode button once more to advance to stride length adjustment. You can then adjust your stride length by pressing the Reset button.

You can easily measure your stride length with a tape measure and two pieces of tape. First, mark off a starting point with some tape. Put your toes on the tape and take ten steps in a straight line. At the end of your tenth step, create a second mark directly in front of your forward foot. Using your tape measure, measure the distance and divide by ten. The resulting number is your stride length. You can repeat this several times if you wish to get a better average.

          A:

The New Balance VIA Slim Pedometer will allow you to enter your weight and stride length, but doesn’t require you to enter your height. Once the unit has been activated, you can enter your weight by pressing the Mode button until you are in Step Mode. Then press and hold the Adjust button. First you will be required to select a unit of distance (miles or kilometers); do so by pressing the Reset button to toggle between them. Next, press the Mode button to advance to weight adjustment. You can enter your weight by pressing the Reset button. Once you are done setting your weight, press the Mode button once more to advance to stride length adjustment. You can then adjust your stride length by pressing the Reset button.

      • About New Balance
New Balance has grown to be one of the largest manufacturers of running shoes and they've done this without expensive advertising campaigns. New Balance knows that there is no better press than positive word-of-mouth. New Balance began as an arch support company, but in 1960, they designed the first running shoe with a ripple sole and the first running shoe that came in varying widths. It didn't take long before New Balance running shoes were used by college track teams all over the country. Today, New Balance makes their shoes available in more widths than almost any other company and that means that there's a New Balance that can fit nearly any foot. Although they started by making running shoes, New Balance tennis shoes are an industry staple and are loved by recreational and serious players. New Balance also makes fine running and tennis apparel, as well as a variety of socks and other sporting accessories.
