    Comments about Babolat Pure Drive:

I *always* research all products before buying, and my research led me to the Babolat Pure Drive 2015. I liked everything that I read and heard about this racquet, including what several pro shops had to say about it. It has great power and control, and its weight seems quite light to me (10.6 oz. unstrung and 11.2 oz. strung) and its 100 square inch head being more than large enough to give me a nice sized sweet spot (coming from standard-sized heads from yesteryear, i.e., Head Arthur Ashe Comps at 12.15 oz. with a 68 square inches). I used to compete in high school, and just got back into the sport in April 2015 after a 25-year hiatus, and am now playing in USTA tournaments. Strung with Weiss Cannon Black 5 Edge (17 gauge) at 50 pounds, this has proven to be a great combo for me, given me a great balance of power, control, feel, and particularly spin potential. I would recommend, and have, this racquet for just about anybody without any special requirements/issues, such as people prone to elbow problems, who need an even larger head and sweet spot (e.g., 107, 110, etc.), or lighter racquet (e.g., Pure Drive Lite, etc.), or more forgiving / less stiff racquet, etc. Lastly, I also liked the new "FSI" technology, which seems to give me more control in the upper region of the racquet, which is where I tend to have most of my racquet-ball contact, and the Cortex Active Technology to help reduce shock/vibration/resonance in the handle. Great, all-around racquet, to be sure.

    Comments about Babolat Pure Drive:

I am a student athlete, and this racquet has been a great addition to my game. It has improved my power and I have more control with the spin. The only down side would be the small sweet-spot, this has no effect on my game but could impair a beginner. All in all I am truly satisfied.

    Service and delivery comments:

The delivery was impeccable! I ordered my racquet strung and it arrived within a couple of days with no extra charge. There was a rough place in my string that had caused a break in the string. The company was wonderful and gave me the options of; sending it back for new strings, sending strings and reimbursing cost of string fee, or reimbursing cost of string and stringing. Due to the fact that I needed it ready with four days for team practices to begin having a company be so flexible was amazing. I will be purchasing an extra racquet shortly & no question it will be from Holabird!!

    Comments about Babolat Pure Drive:

I simply believe that this is one of the most versatile racquets ever made. During the last 15 years this racquet (or its predecessors) has delivered a great blend of performance at the service line, baseline and at the net, combining power/spin and control.

The racquet looks good, feels good at contact, it's easy to swing and to hold (no sharp edges).

The only downside is that the Pure Drive is not as fast as other racquets at the net, it hits crisp volleys but I think there are better racquets out there for accomplished serve and volley players.

I am currently a 4.5 player who used to compete for my home country as a junior but played little during my college years. I enjoy beating 5.0 players from time to time :)

    Service and delivery comments:

Holabird delivered fast. The product arrived in perfect condition.
Holabird has many years in the market. I do remember my dad ordering my Dunlops Max200G when we came to the US for vacations.

    Great service from Holabird

    By Ron

    Comments about Babolat Pure Drive:

The Babalot Pure Drive is renown, and I could have bought it at any number of places. But Holabird was chosen for their reliability and going the extra mile to assure delivery without any problems.

    Service and delivery comments:

Holabird went the extra mile in packaging: my racquettes were sealed in plastic film, inside a carton, which, itself, was sealed in plastic film. Consequently, the delivery person could leave the package on the porch, in the rain, without any damage to my racquettes, or the documentation. Very reassuring.

    Comments about Babolat Pure Drive:

So far, I really love this racket! It is quite a change from what I've been using (Wilson Hammer 5.3) so I'm still getting used to it. One area that it's not performing well (or I'm not performing well - up to interpretation) is how it plays at the net (volleys.) Ground strokes are noticeably punchier and have more spin. Serve is more consistent. I'm glad to be playing with a more updated racket and looking forward to improving my game overall now.

I have a Play Pure Drive racquet and love it - I am looking for a second racquet that is the same racquet but without the chip (to save $$). Is this racquet the same as the Play Pure Drive, minus the chip?

        A:

Strings really come down to personal preference. If you break strings fairly often and like a stiffer string, Babolat has a couple nice polyester strings like Pro Hurricane Tour or RPM Blast. If you are not breaking too many strings or would prefer something softer and more playable, Babolat Addiction or Babolat Xcel are both great choices.

      • A:

Babolat strings are the only type of strings that are recommended for this product so that it will perform optimally. The racket comes with strings when you purchase it and additional strings can be purchased through the website.
