    Comments about New Balance 1005 Men's White/Navy:

The shoes are so very comfortable and so light! When the soles of my first pair began to wear (about seven months later), I bought three more just to make sure I'd be able to get a replacement. As I noted above, the heel is slightly loose but that has never bothered me much at all.

    still a good shoe

Comments about New Balance 1005 WP Men:

I recently purchased a new pair because my older pair had worn out. I rotate several brands of shoes depending on the surface (Yonex and Adidas are my other go-to brands), but the older 1005's were my favorites on hard courts. The update is still a good shoe, and I wore them right out of the box at a tournament recently. They were comfortable, and I never thought about my feet or shoes in the two matches I wore them in. My guess is that they are a bit lighter and that they will not last quite as long, but I will buy another pair and I would recommend them to a friend.

                    A:

When selecting a running shoe, arch structure and foot biomechanics are both pretty important factors that affect your shoe choice. Those same factors are less important when selecting a tennis shoe because of the unique movements that tennis requires. Running's heel-to-toe motion allows the foot to pronate (or supinate) so getting pronation control features and arch support (if necessary) is important when selecting a running shoe. Tennis requires athlete's to move side-to-side and sprint around the court, meaning that most of a tennis player's time is spent on the balls of the feet, which in turn limits the need for pronation control features and added arch support. That being said, you might want to also check out the New Balance 806 (http://www.holabirdsports.com/new-balance-806-w-men.html). The 806 is one of New Balance's most supportive models and is a pretty solid choice for anyone with low arches.

There is no difference between the two shoes design or quality. They may have a different appearance, but that is about it.

The current version of this shoe is the MC1005. The WP simply refers to the color. The previous version of the shoe was called the CT1004. The differences between the CT1004 and the MC1005 are really only cosmetic. With regards to functionality, the shoes are extremely similar.

There are some differences in the materials used for shock absorption in the midsole, but as a whole the shoes are very similar. The 1005 is slightly lighter thanks to some of the new materials.

The New Balance 1005 is an update to the 1004. The 1005 has Acteva Ultra Lite cushioning material that ads shock absorption without added weight.

                • About New Balance
New Balance has grown to be one of the largest manufacturers of running shoes and they've done this without expensive advertising campaigns. New Balance knows that there is no better press than positive word-of-mouth. New Balance began as an arch support company, but in 1960, they designed the first running shoe with a ripple sole and the first running shoe that came in varying widths. It didn't take long before New Balance running shoes were used by college track teams all over the country. Today, New Balance makes their shoes available in more widths than almost any other company and that means that there's a New Balance that can fit nearly any foot. Although they started by making running shoes, New Balance tennis shoes are an industry staple and are loved by recreational and serious players. New Balance also makes fine running and tennis apparel, as well as a variety of socks and other sporting accessories.
