Comments about Wilson Pro Staff 95 BLX:

I have now played competitions and tournaments with this racquet. It's soft, ball-caressing sweet-spot is second to none. I like it.

HOWEVER, the sweet spot is very small, the frame reasonably heavy and needs a big-fast swing to impart any effect on the ball. In other words, if you don't play very often and very aggressive, look elsewhere. If you miss the sweet-spot, you may a well use a plank of wood.

I was seeking a racquet with great touch/control that doesn't get bullied around in baseline exchanges. This is it. However (again), as great as the feel and control is, it is not quite heavy enough to do serious damage from the baseline and the lack of spin increases margin for error. To be honest, I wish it was 15g heavier.

If you're meeting the ball well with a long swing, you'll love it. And if you can swing the heavier weight (Roger's new stick) then do that.

Comments about Wilson Pro Staff 95 BLX:

      Racket used for recreational play.
Sought a racket with low power and high control to keep balls in court. This racket delivers.

      Service and delivery comments:

      Delivery perfect.
Bought two identical rackets, both strung at same tension.
But there was major tension difference, resulting in dramatically different play on the same frame.
      This inconsistency was disappointing.

Comments about Wilson Pro Staff 95 BLX:

The best Wilson racquet I've ever owned. Such a well made racquet, it felt like I was holding something Federer would play with. I won't be playing with another racquet for many years to come.

        Service and delivery comments:

The customer service was some of the best I've ever had. I called after ordering to ensure I would receive it before Christmas and the lovely lady that answered my call ensured me that it would be strung and mailed within the day. She even included a hand written Christmas card. It was very thoughtful and I will be bringing my business back to Holabird for all my tennis needs.

        • Q:

I have two Six one 95 BLX, but they have totally different balance (it is well known that Wilson have bad quality control). I love the one relatively head lighter, but the other one (feel much head heavier) doesn't suit my game at all. I would like to buy another 95 BLX as a backup of the head lighter one, but worry about the variance of the balance of those racquets. Is it possible that you can choose one with relatively light head among those in stock?

            A:

All of the racquets are designed to have the same specs and balance. Each order that is pulled is checked and rechecked to ensure that you are receiving the item being described. There is always some variance between frames. If you don't like the racquet delivered, please send it back under warranty.

        • Q:

I have been using Hyper Wilson ProStaff 6.1 for probably 25 years. Both my racquets have been damaged recently, grommets on one and a crack on the other. My handle size is 4 3/8 in. and head size 95 sq. in. using LiveWire strings pulled at 53 lbs. I play two-handed on my backhand, I would like to buy a single racquet initially which has characteristics identical [or close] to my current racquets. What can you recommend and could I try a demo before purchasing a racquet. Please advise.

            A:

The updated version of the Wilson Six. One has almost identical characteristics to the Hyper Wilson that you have been using. It looks like this racquet is available for Demo. Just select the Demo in the Size drop down menu and proceed to checkout. We charge $14.95 for the first racquet, $19.95 for two and $24.95 for three. Racquets are shipped to you via 2-Day Air and a pre-paid priority mail return label is included with the shipment.

My present racquet is a Wilson Pro Staff 6.1 Stretch 95. My racquets are old. I have a tennis elbow problem which is now better. What racquet would you recommend for an update? What string? I do prefer the longer frame. To simplify which Wilson or Babolat would you recommend? I am a long time Holabird customer. What is your current demo policy? Thanks for your help. From a tennis old-timer.

          1. how to choose between this one and the Wilson BLX Juice 96
          2. Do you have stores in Montreal Canada?

          • A:

The Wilson BLX Juice 96 2 racquet is designed to enhance your power and spin abilities if you are an all-court player or an aggressive baseline player. The racquet is .4 ounces heavier, and its head is one inch wider. The BLX Juice 96 2 has a power level description as low and medium, where as, the Wilson BLX 95 has a power description as low. Base your decision on the type of player you feel you are on the court.
Holabirdsports only has one store in Baltimore, Maryland in the United States.

            A:

The Juice Pro and the Pro Staff Six.One 95 are both targeted towards fairly advanced players, but each is really designed for a separate niche. The Six.One 95 has a much thinner beam and will offer a more precision-oriented experience. The Juice Pro is slightly heavier and stiffer and will provide more power. Ultimately, the best course of action would be to try and demo both to see which one you like best. We do not have any stores in Montreal. Although we ship all over the US and Canada, our only store location is in Baltimore, Maryland.
