Comments about Solinco Tour Bite Soft 17 1.20:

I like poly strings but have a chronic shoulder injury so I need to be careful about using strings that are too stiff. The reviews say this string is softer than the regular Tour Bite so I gave it a try. I have not tried the regular Tour Bite so I can't compare it to that, but I've tried enough other polys to think that these do not feel as soft as I was expecting. They did soften up over time but that's likely just due to tension loss. I'm going to try and hybid them with Head FXP Tour next time to get more comfort.

Very good top spin. Power was good. Would give it 5 stars if durability was better. Overall good string.

Comments about Solinco Tour Bite Soft 17 1.20:

Great power & spin, yet still fairly arm friendly. This is the "Soft" version, which really is softer than the regular version. My setup is Head Prestige IG Youtek Mid with Solinco Tour Bite 17g Soft at 50# in the mains, and Head FXP Tour 16g at 54# in the crosses.

Should it (Solinco TBS 17) be strung at a lower tension than my regular string. (Gamma pro 17).

                    A:

I usually recommend that people string 2-3 pounds looser with polyester strings than they do with multifilament strings. Stringing a little bit looser helps compensate for a polyester string's stiffness but in the end it really is a matter of personal preference—some players will like the slightly reduced tension, others will not. Tour Bite Soft (as indicated by the name) is a little bit more forgiving (and less stiff) than a traditional polyester string so you may be able ultimately string it as tight as you do with your regular strings. I would suggest lowering your tension the first time you string with the Solinco Tour Bite Soft. If it ends up feeling too loose, you can string a bit tighter next time you get your racquet restrung.
