There are a lot of factors that come in to effect spin, control and power. Spin is generated by the player, but it helps to have a string that can snap back in to place after hitting the ball. Control and Power is determined with how High or Low you string a racquet. The Higher the tension, the more control you have. The lower the tension, the more power you have. Moving from 16 to 17 gauge is nice if you want to add more control and spin to your game. The only downside is that if you are a frequent string breaker, it is more likely to break because it is thinner.
