I was getting bumps and tenderness on my Achilles with my 803s so I tried a different model shoe that didn't come up as high in the back. The pain went away and the bumps started getting smaller but the other shoes weren't giving me the stability that I liked -- I fell once and turned my ankle a couple of times. New Balance recommended that I try the 1187s and they are working WONDERFULLY. No tendon pain, great stability, great comfort. And they look good. They're perfect.

I purchased these due to many reviews stating that these are great for people with narrow feet. I am a true 9 slim. (Next to impossible to find that size these days) I ordered a 9 Narrow, which when tied tight does not slip! I have worn these shoes approx 10 times and still trying to break them in! After walking both levels of our mall my feet begin to hurt? Will keep trying!

New Balance is the only company that makes a woman's court shoe in wide width. That works for me. They are light weight, attractive and stable on the court. I found, like other reviewers, that the back of the shoe is too wide so slips up and down. My favorite court shoe is still the 1004-5 and I did exchange these shoes for the 1004.
