Comments about New Balance 656 BP Lady:

Always have liked New Balance shoes. This one is okay, but not great. As others referenced, the shoe is very stiff around the ankles. If New Balance would correct this, it would be an outstanding shoe.

Comments about New Balance 656 BP Lady:

I haven't had a chance to play tennis with these shoes yet since it is winter right now but am trying to break it in before the spring gets here. I found this shoe to be quite stiff, not as wide even though I bought a 6.5W (same size as my Adidas), and does not grip the heel at all. I'd return it but I already threw the box away.

      Great except for ankle area

Comments about New Balance 656 BP Lady:

This shoe's width and fit were great for my wide feet, and they felt very comfortable. They are also pretty cute. The big minus was the area around the ankle. If you lace the shoe to the top lace, it feels like it is giving good ankle support. However, the top of the shoe that supports the ankle is very stiff and hard. That, combined with the place on the ankle the shoe touches, made my inner ankles bruised - they still are tender after wearing them once a couple of weeks ago. If I lace them one opening from the top, they might not dig in to my ankle, but then they also won't give the same ankle support. I only found this to be an issue after wearing them in a game, so unfortunately cannot return them. Have not experienced this issue with other NB shoes.

          • About New Balance
New Balance has grown to be one of the largest manufacturers of running shoes and they've done this without expensive advertising campaigns. New Balance knows that there is no better press than positive word-of-mouth. New Balance began as an arch support company, but in 1960, they designed the first running shoe with a ripple sole and the first running shoe that came in varying widths. It didn't take long before New Balance running shoes were used by college track teams all over the country. Today, New Balance makes their shoes available in more widths than almost any other company and that means that there's a New Balance that can fit nearly any foot. Although they started by making running shoes, New Balance tennis shoes are an industry staple and are loved by recreational and serious players. New Balance also makes fine running and tennis apparel, as well as a variety of socks and other sporting accessories.
