Staying light on your feet is easy when you wear New Balance 996 tennis shoes. These updated shoes feature PROBANK stability technology that keeps your foot in place during quick cuts on the court. A modern, low-profile design leaves the clunky looks off the court and brings in the style. Ideal for all-court surface players.

Upper: Synthetic overlays offer enhanced support. Breathable mesh provides cool flexibility and ventilation. Lightly padded tongue and heel collar enhance instep comfort. A long-wear drag tip protects the shoe toe box. Lace-up front offers an adjustable fit.

Midsole: REVLITE cushioning technology gives added support. PROBANK technology on the lateral side distributes force more evenly so you can change direction quickly and efficiently. Removable insole.

Outsole: Rubber compound provides maximum durability and traction. Herringbone outsole allows increased traction for lateral motion and quick pivoting. Ndurance® rubber provides superior durability in high wear areas.

Comments about New Balance 996 WS Men:

Use for playing tennis. Pleased that this updated shoe is as good or better than the former model. So often this is not the case with a lot of manufacturers, but NB did a good job on this one. I'll be ordering another pair as a backup.

    • Q:

I have been wearing 1004 and 1005 which fit me well and the 1005 has more room in the toe area. In regular shoes I wear a 13B so I have a narrow foot but need extra length for an orthotic. Will this shoe fit as well as the 1005 although I'm not concern with width as much as length?

        A:

The New Balance tennis shoes are generally cut the same in length. Depending on your specific foot and desired feel, it would be safe to stick with a size 13 D Medium.

    • About New Balance
New Balance has grown to be one of the largest manufacturers of running shoes and they've done this without expensive advertising campaigns. New Balance knows that there is no better press than positive word-of-mouth. New Balance began as an arch support company, but in 1960, they designed the first running shoe with a ripple sole and the first running shoe that came in varying widths. It didn't take long before New Balance running shoes were used by college track teams all over the country. Today, New Balance makes their shoes available in more widths than almost any other company and that means that there's a New Balance that can fit nearly any foot. Although they started by making running shoes, New Balance tennis shoes are an industry staple and are loved by recreational and serious players. New Balance also makes fine running and tennis apparel, as well as a variety of socks and other sporting accessories.
