Micro Cellular Technology: Neither pressurized nor permanent pressure™, Tretorn's micro cellular technology is patented worldwide and recognized by the ITF as the pioneer of a new category of tennis ball. The result is a highly playable tennis ball that does not lose performance over time.

A conventional pressurized ball flattens on the stringbed as it is hit and resistance is provided by the compressed air within the ball. A small amount of air escapes each time the ball is struck, reducing air pressure and performance. With this new category of ball, 700 million air-filled micro cells take the place of compressed air. These cells cannot escape through the ball's rubber core, resulting in a ball that never loses its bounce.

The rubber core, made of titanium and polybutadiene, has a softer feel than permanent pressure balls, enhancing spin. Surfaced with Tretorn's exclusive Flex-Felt™, which is specially designed from wool and polyester fibers, the Micro X offers unsurpassed feel, playability ad wear-resistance.

Comments about Tretorn Micro-X Yellow Bag of 72:

I have used the Micro-X in my ball Machine an average of 4 hours a week, for 3 years. They still have very good felt, and bounce! They have exceeded my expectations much more than other pressure-less balls, and I have tried 3 other major name brands. I have no doubt I will be using these same balls 3 years from now! However, 72 are not enough. I am going to purchase 2 more bags!
As a side note, where I play on some public courts, the balls pick up the color of the oxidized court, or simply gray dust. Three times, I have put these balls through the washing machine on a slow, long cycle, then air-dried in their hoppers overnight. It really makes them brighter and the Micro-X does not get "woolly," like some other pressure-less balls after a wash.

    Service and delivery comments:

Always with Holabird, your service and technical help are excellent, especially on tennis strings, which I buy more than balls!

Comments about Tretorn Micro-X Yellow Bag of 72:

I use a Tennis Tutor Player Plus ball machine several times each week and was looking for balls that would provide a consistent bounce when working on specific strokes. After several practice sessions using the Tretorn Micro X balls, the results were just the opposite - in fact, their bounce was far more INCONSISTENT than that of used.regular tennis balls. They also have a heavy and hard feel when struck with the racquet. The only somewhat positive from using them was that when I go back to the regular, used tennis balls, I hit the regular balls with an easier and smoother stroke with better results - somewhat similar to hitting a baseball with a bat after first taking several swings with two or three bats or a wait ring on the bat and then removing that extra wright. I would not recommend the Tretorn Micro X balls at all - at any price.

Fine product for the ball machine. A small percentage are non-concentric, and bounce like a crazy ball. By-and-large, though, they met my expectations.

Comments about Tretorn Micro-X Yellow Bag of 72:

use in tennis tutor plus player machine. the purpose was to have a ball that lasts longer than normal regulation balls. initially lots of fuzz shed as expected. Balls have good bounce, but "harder" than standard balls if that makes sense. the hardness seems to give it a heavier feel but its not noticeable holding this ball and a standard ball. Takes some time to adjust using balls in a machine and have not used them extensively at this point to determine break-in or rate of bounce wear (two days of 3 hours runs). Have been very pleased with consistency in the lot purchased. Would NOT use in play or tournaments.

            A:

Micro-X tennis balls use an exclusive felt designed to be wear-resistant so they will play fine on hard courts. I have also used them on soft courts and they play fine there as well.

        • About Tretorn
Contemporary collections are a natural development of Tretorn’s history, which began in 1891 in Helsingborg, Sweden. Founded by Johan Dunker, Tretorn originally produced high quality rubber boots. Shortly after the company’s beginning, Dunker’s son, Henry, decided to use his expertise in high quality rubber to produce a variety of rubber products, including tennis balls. Tretorn was the first company to produce the pressurized tennis ball in 1955. Today, Tretorn is one of the leading manufacturers of tennis equipment in the world. Sweden remains a major source of inspiration for the brand - the landscape and the people provide an authentic framework for everything that defines Tretorn: clean design, reliable protection and functional products.
