recommended tension and type of string?Asked on 12/13/2012 by Richard from Evanston IL1 answer
A:
Both tension and type of string are very much based on personal preference so it can be difficult to make a broad, general recommendation. Strings can be broadly broken into two categories: playability and durability. In general, these two groups are mutually exclusive (more playable strings tend to break more quickly, while more durable strings won't play as nicely). If the player is breaking strings frequently, you may want to consider a polyester hybrid like Wilson Sensation Duo (which is currently offered free of charge with the purchase of this racquet). If the player is not breaking strings as frequently, you might want to try something a bit softer like Wilson Sensation (also currently offered free of charge with the purchase of this racquet). Both are good choices, depending upon the player's personal preferences and needs. Tension can be used to tweak the racquet's performance. Lower tensions will result in more power while higher tensions will result in greater control. Whenever a player is switching over to a new racquet or is unsure about tension, I recommend stringing right in the middle of the tension range (58 lbs. for this racquet).
