Comments about Wilson Steam 99S:
I've always been a spin player. I hit with spin on 80% of my ground strokes and serves. Though I don't see (or feel) that it provides more spin, I can see it in how my opponents react to the balls I hit. I've had a bit of a hard time adapting to it, probably because of its shorter length and smaller head than what I am used to. I opted for one of the free strings at mid tension, so I'm not sure that it wouldn't be an even better racquet with more appropriate strings and tension.
Most of the people I play with (3.0-5.0 seniors) are basically flat ball hitters, and I don't know if I would recommend it for them. In my opinion, probably only 10% of the hundred, or so, people I play with would benefit from this racquet.

Comments about Wilson Steam 99S:
The recommended Luxilon strings did not work for me. The demo I received had Wilson Sensation strings and added more spin with less effort.

Comments about Wilson Steam 99S:
Got this racket in today and must say I was impressed. I normaly swing a wilson BLX 90 so the two are hard to compare. I am use to really attacking the ball and creating my own power and spin. With the 99s I really only can swing about 75% and have control(it feels much lighter and has a ton more power), but with that said I played a few sets and found my range and was able to keep the ball in play much more often. Did not realize how much power I was generating and spin with much less effort. But my opponents kept hitting the ball late, so the ball must have really been exploding off the court. The 99s is my new favorite. 35 year old Male 3.5 player

Comments about Wilson Steam 99S:
Wow this racquet really delivers as much spin as they advertise, I felt a little bad for my opponent. I was able to hit deep penetrating shots with a lot of topspin, backspin and even some side-spin. Balls I thought would be out with my old racket were dipping down onto the baseline and wreaking havoc for my opponent. Walking off the court the only thing he had to say was "yeah, in your hands that is a weapon"

Q:
I bought this racquet back in February (2 months back) and loved it but when playing yesterday I noticed a crack in the frame. Is that something that might be covered by a warranty?Asked on 4/16/2013 by AJ from Baltimore MD1 answer
A:
Tennis racquets do carry a 1-year limited manufacturer's warranty against defects. It sounds like your racquet is well within the time frame. If you live in the Baltimore area, you can bring your racquet in to our showroom and we will be happy to take a look at the racquet and begin processing your warranty there if necessary. If you are not near Baltimore, please contact us at (866) 860-1416. One of our customer service experts will provide you with a Return Authorization number and give you further information on the warranty process.Answered on 4/17/2013 by Ryan from Holabird Sports
Q:
I am a 4.0 player whose game is more about placement that hard-hitting winners. What would be the best strings for my type of play with this racquet? Should the mains be strung with a different string than the crosses? What tension should it be strung at?Asked on 4/7/2013 by Pam from Lower Gwynedd, PA1 answer
A:
Based on this description of your game, it doesn't sound like you break strings too frequently and aren't overly concerned with string durability. In general, for your style of play I would probably recommend a softer, more playable string like Wilson Sensation or NXT; however, this racquet may be a bit of an exception to the rule because of its extremely open string pattern. The more open a racquet's string pattern is, the more the strings will be able to move, resulting in more wear on the strings. If you are breaking strings (even infrequently), you might be better served trying something more durable like a polyester hybrid or full polyester. Tension is largely based upon personal preference and some players do string their crosses tighter than their mains. Since this racquet does have a pretty open string pattern, it will probably have a "softer" feel to begin with. Stringing this racquet up a bit tighter may provide a more "conventional" feel, but, again, it is really up to you.Answered on 4/8/2013 by Ryan from Holabird Sports
Q:
I bought this racket and it came in today. Hit some serves and it has much easier power than my blx 90. The question is all the specs that I have seen say it is 2pt head light. My racket says 6pt head light. Not a big deal just wondering whats up?Asked on 2/6/2013 by D from Greenwood, MS1 answer
A:
The 6 points headlight reflects the balance of this racquet when it is unstrung. Strings do affect both the weight and balance of a racquet. After the strings are installed, the balance of this racquet is 2 points headlight.Answered on 2/7/2013 by Ryan from Holabird Sports
Q:
What size head & what is the weight?Asked on 2/4/2013 by Jan from Pinehurst, NC2 answers
