Width true, but length was one full size short

I ordered my normal New Balance size of 9-4E. The width was true, but the length was one full size short. I ordered both 9.5-4E and 10-4E, and found that the 10-4E was just right. The shoe is very comfortable, and I used it on the court right out of the box. Although the shoe rates a 5 star for affordable recreational tennis, I am really upset that New Balance sizing continues to vary so greatly for different models.
