MicroGEL: MicroGEL is a revolutionary silicone based material with the lowest density of any solid known on the planet. This incredible "Super Material" weighs only about 3mg per cubic centimeter, but is able to support up to 4,000 times it's own weight. On ball impact, HEAD MicroGEL uniformly distributes the impact load around the frame circumference providing a rock solid feel and unique touch that has to be experienced to be believed.

Performs per reviews

I purchased this racket based on reviews. I have shoulder and arm issues and have been playing with a stiff racket. I had ‘soft’ strings added after I received it. I have only hit with the Radical only twice since my purchase but love it. Sufficient power (no lead tape added) with fantastic feel. My thanks to all the players that took the time to post accurate reviews.

A comfortable racquet for intermediate players.

I am very happy with my purchase with some reservations due to what appear to be changes to this classic frame. The racquet is forgiving / flexible, oversize and has decent power. I have no elbow or wrist pain after playing. It has excellent control and comfort, and is best for flat ball hitters due to its dense string pattern. My concerns are that HEAD has changed this classic racquet. I have an older one and it plays somewhat differently. The grip shape is flatter on the old model and rounder on the new one. And, the effects of MicroGEL are no longer felt. When I attempted to hit topspin forehands, the frame made a groaning sound that my older racquet - same model, different year - never made. While I am very satisfied with this purchase and want HEAD to keep making this frame, there appear to have been changes made to it. The factory strings were too loose and were strung at the lower end of the recommended tension. I recommend getting it restrung before playing with it. I strung it with a synthetic gut at 55 lbs. and it plays well.

A quality frame for intermediate and advanced players.

I am an advanced intermediate player. This frame is stable and I really like the oversize head and round head shape as they make it forgiving. The dense string pattern makes it a more demanding frame to play with but the result is excellent control. I string it loose @ 52 lbs. with synthetic gut. I like the biting low slice the frame can deliver and that the string bed does not trampoline on hard hit shots. It's also not too heavy or too light. The design is too demanding for beginners. Use a string dampener and it will be more comfortable. Don't forget to buy a cover or racquet case as this frame does not come with one. It's best to immediately re-string it as the factory strings are not very lively.

Racket Great; Shipping is Poor

Racket is good for any style at any level. Super control, great spin, outstanding feel, plenty of power. The only bad part was the 10 day wait for delivery. I won't buy from Holabird again because of that reason. TOOO SLOOOOW.
