I've only been running in Hoka's for about 3 years; however, in that time I have tried multiple versions of both road and trail shoes. For road, I've run in the Napali's, Clifton 6's, and Bondi 6's; however, the Clifton's have been my go-to for more than a year (on my 4th pair of the 6's).
I tried the Bondi's as my long road shoe but they just didn't feel right. So, I decided to see if there was another road shoe I could use for tempo and race day over the Clifton's. The Mach is the shoe! These things feel great. They are light and honestly, they make me run faster. I want to be clear, they don't make me faster; rather, they spring in them just makes my stride longer and smoother. I've got just over 50 miles on them and they're holding up great.
Because there's no way I'm going with shoes that have a carbon plate, these are the next best thing. I think combining them with the Clifton will give you the ability to push yourself on some days and slog through long miles in the Clifton's on others. Very impressed with the modifications to this shoe!
