Really 4.8 stars
The shoes are build solid. And I think an excellent solid platform to doing basically all of the things I do in Crossfit including the "olympic" and "power" type of barbell work found regularly in WODs (I personally do use "lifters" when doing heavier weights or volumes of those movements by themselves). I'm not sure I noticed a huge difference in "gripping" with the tread (and maybe I just don't move that quick!) but I definitely have not noticed any slipping. The heel stays in place nicely, as advertised with their "heel lock". I like running in them better than my old reebok speed TR's, but there still isn''t much drop or cushion, so I would't recommend long runs (>800m at a time) in them for most people.
The only negatives and the reason I didn't give a full 5 stars are 1) they are a bit on the heavier side. It doesn't feel like you have bricks on your feet, but they are not a super light weight trainer. This doesn't bother me too much, but it could be a consideration for some. And 2) they do not breathe very well. Your feet will get hot and sweaty in them.
I have a wider foot with a pretty high arch and they seemed to fit well on size for me.
