My latest go-to string
Once upon a time, I switched from VS gut to Technifibre. I loved how it played. Years later (decades actually) string technology changed and I got older. To compensate, I started using stiffer and thinner string so I could get a bite on the ball while maintaining some string durability. Unfortunately, my durability came into question. Again. Only this time, I needed rest and an equipment change rather than another hospital visit.
As much as I liked Solinco Tour Bite 18, my geezerly elbow and forearm couldn't take the punishment any longer. Not only is the X-One Biphase 18 pain-free to use, it reminds me of the lively strings I enjoyed yesteryear while still getting the desired bite on the ball when employing spins.
For me, I got 20 good sets out of my string job, plus another eight practice sets before a string broke. That's perfectly acceptable to me -- improved playability and comfort over being a bit more expensive and fewer sets of play. (I use a Yonex 95 as a point of reference, and probably would have retired the string job after 15 more practice sets instead of the eight.)
