Introducing tennis apparel that fights plastic pollution! The adidas Australian Open 2019 line of tennis wear was made in collaboration with Parley for the Oceans, an organization that specializes in re-purposing plastic waste that’s intercepted from remote islands, shorelines, open water, and coastal communities. This is yet another advancement for adidas as the company moves toward a more ecologically sustainable future.
adidas first collaborated with Parley for the Oceans in 2015 when the company introduced the original adidas x Parley shoe at the United Nations. That first shoe was made with upcycled plastic waste and illegal gillnets removed from the ocean. Since then, a variety of adidas products have featured materials from Parley, including shoes, jerseys, and now tennis apparel.
The Australian Open 2019 collection is made with Parley Ocean Plastic® materials, which not only re-purpose plastic waste, but also ensure that no virgin plastic is created. Additionally, the adidas Parley tennis-wear line uses recycled polyester in order to cut down on emissions and conserve resources. Now you can look good on the court and do good for the planet!
