"The Wave Prophecy 4 is our premium, neutral-cushioned shoe," noted Dave Patterson, one of Mizuno’s Territory Managers. "The U4ic cushioning combined with the Infinity Wave Plate makes for the cleanest ride we can manufacture."
Mizuno, already known for its Wave Plate technology, employs a full length wave plate called the Infinity Wave. The Infinity Wave delivers the highest degree of cushioning and shock attenuation and can only be found in the Prophecy model.
Many Mizuno newbies found the previous model, the Wave Prophecy 3, to be a winner. However, a few long-term Mizuno loyalists felt the shoe had some minor shortcomings compared to the original and second versions of the shoe.
So, naturally, Mizuno decided to offer the best of both worlds in the Prophecy 4.
To create a fit and feel similar to the first two models, Mizuno returned to a more traditional mesh in the forefoot for better breathability. "We also used a two-piece construction to provide a more familiar Mizuno feel," said Patterson. "This design allows for a better wrap around the arch."
However, the reconfiguration of the Infinity Wave and the deeper flex grooves that runners noticed in the Prophecy 3 will remain constant in this most recent update.
The Mizuno Wave Prophecy 4 is available for preorder in three color ways for men and three color ways for women.
