This year, Under Armour brought us exciting new products in their running line, with the most impressive being the Speedform Fortis. This model provides the best of two of Under Armour's previous releases, the Speedform Apollo and the Speedform Gemini. Where the Apollo lacked in cushioning, the Gemini made up for with its support system. Now, the Speedform Fortis provides a barely-there feel from a shoe that gives you a supported feel with every step.
Under Armour deemed their Charged Cushioning System as one of the main attributes of the Speedform Fortis. I noticed immediately how cushioned the shoe felt, while the upper reminded me of the Speedform Apollo. The shoe is smooth, light, and form-fitted without being tight in any way. Weighing in at only 6.75 ounces, the Speedform Fortis doesn't weigh me down and leaves my feet feeling refreshed with its pillow-like midsole.
Under Armour's use of 4D Foam and heel cup keeps my foot feeling secure and dry. The added heel strap not only looks cool, but can be used to create a more personalized the fit at the ankle. The shoe's 8mm drop doesn't overstretch my achilles and calve muscles, a problem I experienced while wearing the Speedform Apollo for any run over about 3 miles. I loved the sleek, lightweight feel of the Apollo, however, it fell flat over time and left my foot feeling unsupported. The Speedform Fortis gives me the best of both worlds in a stylish and sophisticated package.
As an avid runner that enjoys a stylish and functional shoe that doesn't hinder my performance, I absolutely love the Under Armour Speedform Fortis. I would recommend this shoe for runners who like a lighter shoe without sacrificing response and support.
