adidas Ultra Boost Running Shoe Preview: 100% Boost Midsole and Premium Comfort
In February 2013, adidas revolutionized running shoes with the launch of Boost—a highly cushioned and responsive midsole made up of fused TPU pellets. Boost first appeared in the original Energy Boost model. Since then, adidas has tweaked and refined each of their core running shoe models to compatible with the premium midsole.

Though the vast majority adidas's core running shoes have been enhanced with Boost technology, none of them have had a midsole made up entirely of Boost. All of these models had some proportion of Supernova—adidas's classic EVA midsole foam—built into the shoe.

The brand new adidas Ultra Boost, which will be available on February 27, 2015, elevates the Boost concept to a new echelon.

Thanks to years of research and big jumps in product development, the adidas Ultra Boost will offer runners a 100% Boost midsole. This equates to more cushioning and more energy return than what the Energy Boost provides (which had been adidas’s Boost-iest running shoe until now).

The adidas Ultra Boost is an every day neutral trainer that is suitable for all types of running, including marathon training and higher mileage. The men's size 9 weighs in at 10.9 ounces and the women's size 7 weighs 9.4 ounces, and both styles sit on a 10mm heel-to-toe drop.

The premium midsole is not the only feature that makes this shoe ultra comfortable. adidas has incorporated its seamless Primeknit upper, which not only adds comfort and flexibility, but also gives the shoe a very fashionable look. Also, a new Stretchweb outsole has been fused to the midsole, allowing the midsole to splay and shear appropriately. The result is a ride that is highly adaptable to varying stride types and terrains.

This shoe is designed largely for road running, though it can withstand light running on trails.

"The Ultra Boost represents 70 years of success on the track, trails, and road engineered into one shoe," remarked adidas Technical Representative Daniel Ache.
