Celebrating their 100th anniversary this year, Brooks continues to keep their focus on running. A company doesn't get to celebrate such a huge milestone without making constant improvements on their lineup and this year is no different. The introduction of Super DNA in a number of Brooks' shoes, (a material that provides 25% more cushioning than BioMoGo DNA) creates an even more plush and comfortable ride than before.
Brooks Rep Paul Harris said, "One of our successes is that our shoes fit really well." Specifically they feature a narrow heel and more generous forefoot. Over the past year, it seems that Brooks has put a lot of emphasis on making further improvements on making their shoes as comfortable and as adaptive for runners as possible. "That's where all of our energy goes, all of our technology," Paul said.
Last year, Brooks replaced the Trance with the all new Transcend. This shoe features Guide Rails that deliver "On-demand Support" by allowing your hips, knees and joints to move within their unique motion path while you run. And Ideal Pressure Zones distribute your weight evenly in the heel, midfoot and forefoot. Plus, that Super DNA makes an appearance for great cushioning. Paul called it the "ultimate float shoe."
On the other end of the spectrum is the Brooks PureProject series which is much closer to a minimalist experience. When choosing the type of shoe that will work best for you, Paul said to ask yourself "Do you want to have a float experience or do you want to be closer to the ground?" The PureProject series (which includes the PureCadence 3, PureFlow 3 and PureConnect 3) puts your feet closer to the ground. And with improvements that include a repositioned Toe Flex and a more rounded Ideal Heel, you'll experience a much more efficient ride.
Other shoes in the Brooks 2014 lineup that saw updates are the Ravenna 5, Adrenaline 14 and Cascadia 9. They all feature a much more foot-friendly upper design that will wrap your feet and anchor them securely onto the midsole. More flexibility enhances your transitions while you run for better efficiency as you take off. The Glycerin 11 and Adrenaline 14 are built with a 3D Fit Print that reduces weight and friction points, resulting in a closer-to-foot fit. Paul referred to it as "the only fully adaptive material in a running shoe today."
Rounding out the Brooks news that is sure to make fans happy is that the Launch seems to have found new life and is sticking around, at least for another year. "This is a shoe we've tried to kill a number of times," Paul said. But Brooks can’t deny the large fan base they have. "There's a loyal following," Paul said. He described it as the perfect shoe for people that just want all-around comfort on their feet.
