These balls are definitely more durable than Penn Extra duty balls. As such, they will work well with my PongBot tennis ball machine for both solo exercise and tennis instruction.
The Dunlaps are sturdier than the Penn's which takes some getting used to. They aren't nearly as hard as the old Tretorns but I could see them causing some players a slightly sore arm.
These are excellent balls to train with. They will last a lot longer than most other balls on the market and a lot of tournaments even play with these balls now. The only negative is they are bit on the heavy side, so if you have arm problems you might want to get something a bit lighter.
I think they are great . My new brand . I was playing with a group on two courts side by side . One court using my can of Penn Extra Duty balls and the other court using these Dunlop balls who anther fella supplied. Both cans brand new. After 2 hours of play I compared the Penn vs Dunlop . The Dunlop was in much better shape . More bounce, etc… So when I went home I ordered a case of Dunlop balls. Fabulous.
