Performance at a Price
Title says it all - are they pricey, yes, do they perform, also yes. It's your money so only you can decide, but for me although it was hard to pull the trigger, I'm glad I did!
Background - I registered for the Swiss Peaks 100k and intended to use my Nike Zegama 2's, but they started bothering my big toes a little and after reading a very positive professional review of the On's decided to pull the trigger. Upon unboxing they're noticeably light and seem potentially fragile (thin uppers and shallow lugs), but after two rugged big mountain training runs in CO and the race itself it's hard to see any real wear, amazing!
Oddly enough, I was able to tweak the big toe fit of the Nikes enough I ended up using both during the race - the Nikes during the first half the On's during the second. While both are equally comfortable, the On's do have a little more zip because of the carbon plates. It's a quality shoe if you can survive the sticker shock.
